It's always a good exercise to try something new for the hell of it, not because you are/want to be/will be any good at it. Sometimes I find I actually like those activities best because I don't have anything "invested" in being good at them-- nothing to prove!
Yesss. It's trying out new things that keeps the old grey cells in working order and of course it makes life more interesting. I have also noticed that it is always easier to remember doing things for the first time. Stuff done before or habits are almost on autopilot and the time flies by and you don't know where in hell it got to.
Also decided to take up doodling because the inner serpent has gotten into the bad habit of being tempted by pretty blank note books, markers and pencils. I think she is trying to tell me something and it is cheaper to listen than to let the pile of stationery get bigger. There's no right or wrong and it's an effective way of training one's brain to be in the present moment as well as being very portable and low tech.
