Hell had never been a pleasant place; of course it wasn’t supposed to be. Hell was a punishment for those that betrayed God. The nine layers of Hell became worse the deeper one came, the ninth layer being reserved for betrayers and mutineers… and this was where Lucifer’s castle was. Ryun had been raised here in the castle under the teachings of Lucifer and his top devil Belial, he had never known anything else. Lucifer had stolen him from Heaven’s nursery before rebelling against God. Ryun was a powerful demon, few outclassed him and that was why Lucifer had taken him. Lucifer would need him when he began his second war against God.
Ryun’s boot heels clicked against the stone floor of the castle. The lit torches cast flickering shadows of all those that lingered in the halls for various reasons. Hushed whispers started as he walked past, crossing the threshold to the Dark Lord’s private chambers. For years rumors had gone on about what happened behind closed doors between him and his Lord. Ryun never denied the rumors, he didn’t feel that he needed to; of course this had only fueled the rumors more.
Lucifer was standing against the floor to ceiling windows, his cape almost touching the floor as he watched Hell’s fires burn. Ryun approached Lucifer slowly not knowing what sort of mood the Dark Lord was in. He stopped when there was about three feet between them and kneeled. Ryun watched Lucifer through lowered eyes waiting to be acknowledged. Finally Lucifer turned and graced him with what would have been a smile on anyone else but on Lucifer it was just a sadistic smirk.
“My lord,” Ryun murmured lowering his gaze to the floor.
“Ryun, I’m glad you came so quickly. I have an important mission for you.”
“A mission?” Ryun questioned looking up quickly. He might have been one of the more powerful demons in Hell but Lucifer had rarely let him out of Hell and never without Beliel’s company. “Will Beliel be going as well?”
“No, Beliel will be staying here. It has come to my attention that Chaos has requested to go to Earth in order to be redeemed and gain entrance into Heaven,” Lucifer explained. Ryun’s eyes hardened at these words.
“Do you want me to kill him?” Ryun asked. Lucifer laughed… it was a truly chilling sound to hear.
“No Ryun. You will not kill Chaos. You will accompany him to Earth and be redeemed.”
Ryun blinked in surprise. Go to Earth and be redeemed? But…. He had no interest in being redeemed. Did he want to take the chance and question his Lord? Not likely.
“This is my chance Ryun. You are loyal to me, I know this, and once you are in Heaven you will help me begin my revenge against God.” Lucifer laughed again and this time Ryun had to suppress a chill.
“When will I leave my Lord?” Ryun questioned when Lucifer’s laughter had stopped.
“Soon. As soon as I give you a proper goodbye in fact,” Lucifer answered. Lucifer brought Ryun to his feet and then kissed his cheek. Ryun blushed, who wouldn’t when the most beautiful angel of Heaven and now the ruler of Hell kissed them? Ryun couldn’t feel the demon mark form on his cheek and Lucifer ran his finger over the mark to conceal it so Ryun wouldn’t be able to see it. Lucifer trusted no one but himself, with this mark in place he would be able to watch Ryun and communicate with him should the need arise. “Now go. Chaos is in Gehenna at the gates of teshuva getting ready to create the portal that will take him to Earth.”
“As you wish my Lord,” Ryun stated turning to leave.
“Do not disappoint me Ryun.”
“Never my Lord,” Ryun swore and then vanished.
