Back in Russia

I have been off of LJ for a while, but things have been really crazy here. I am already back in Russia (CL and JG, I'm sorry that I didn't get to see you while in NYC. So I've offically decided to try working in the film industry. I understand that means no sleep and a lot of work, but I want to make money. Do you have any suggestions where I could start?

What kind of jobs are you interested in attempting (or is that the question that you are asking me?)

I was wanting to start out in wardrobe or the art department. I've done both for film and t.v. but small time and was hoping for bigger, better paying gigs, but I don't know where to look. I was hoping that you might have some insight.

I would suggest that you first check out the IATSE requirements for these departments. I would certainly suggest that you try to go IATSE, otherwise, the industry really tries to take advantage of you. Plus this is where all the money is anyway. I don't really know what the wardrobe requirements are. I would also suggest that you get onto the NYC Mayoral Film Office website. A lot of times, it will tell you what is going to be shooting in the NYC area. Other than that, I am not sure exactly how to tell you to get started. I was really lucky with the DGA program, because I never really had to start at the beginning.

Welcome back to Russia! It's too bad that we missed each other this year, but I'm glad you made it in and out of NYC safely and with little hassle!

I'm completely amazed at the kindness of your landlord. That is really cool. I look forward to reading your Russia 2005-2006 updates!
