"It's like we're supporting characters in some TV show and it’s only about them."

I always have such high expectations for summer. I think before it starts that I'm going to do all these amazing, life-altering things and meet five hundred stupendous people and all that jazz. Then it comes and all I do is go on the computer, work, watch movies and TV. Even hanging out with the friends...who I all love, don't get me wrong...feels ( Read more... )

Haha, I love that quote in your subject line.

I completely identify with your summer listlessness. I used to get that way a lot when I was out of school...I think the best way I've found to get yourself back in the groove of things is to start a project. Like writing a story, or teaching yourself cooking/knitting/a new language, or learning to play/sing a new song, or even -- freak out -- working on a cosplay. (Seriously, that completely dinky Seguchi Tohma coat that hangs in my closet? Making that thing was possibly the most fun I've had in my life.) Once you have something for your days to kind of focus on, all that other stuff -- reading, hanging out with friends, etc. -- will seem more like leisure and less like ways to waste time.

Sucks about the awkwardness with your grandfather. Perhaps in these months spent together, you'll find some ground for mutual understanding?? Heh, just throwing it out there.

P.S. Remember to CIRCLE IT, UNDERLINE IT, STAR IT.

Actually, speaking of what Max is talking about, I'm buying both Professor Layton and The World Ends With You for my China trip, so you can borrow one or both of those once I get back! :) (Soooo freaking excited for Layton, oh man.)

I completely sympathize with you. Summer hasn't really started for me yet, but I can already tell that, unless I do something about it, it's going to be all work, lazing about the house, and doing nothing with friends. I also feel particularly limited for now because of my financial situation, but hopefully that'll be fixed soon enough.

We should make plans to do some actual activities. Craft days are always fun, we could have a cooking party, or just do something silly like dress fancy and go out for dinner or something. Even as aimless as that might be, it'll at least feel like it has direction.

I really want to go to some plays and do other artistic things like that. Cooking sounds fun, or just dressing up for no reason. Anything like that would be better than just aimlessly sitting around and collecting dust.

Hope the job hunting goes well!
