Bee

I was doing my own stuff the other day when out of the corner of my eye, I noticed some movement on the floor of my room. Taking a closer look, I found a bee crawling on the floor. So, what do I do? I grab it and put it on my desk and find something to cover it to stop it from getting anyway. Then hastily I go grab my camera and swap on the Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro 1:1 lens that I don't actually find myself using too often, set up one light stand with a flash and poverty wizards. I try to take a few shots, and motherfucker, my fucking triggers weren't syncing. 1/160th, 1/120th, 1/100th, nothing. The flash was going off, but there was no sync until I slowed things down to about 1/30th or less. Anyway, to the backup with the in-built wireless flash system.

I took a few shots, but figured I'd get better results with a big soft light, so out came my shoot through umbrella. The bee was probably injured or something, since it wasn't flying away, and wasn't too active in crawling around either. I just kept shooting and shooting until I thought I had enough good shots in there, and then grabbed the bee and threw it outside. Well, I didn't literally thrown it back outside, I placed it down outside in the backyard somewhere.

So, my poverty wizard wireless triggers don't seem to be working anymore. I've checked and made sure all the batteries were charged and had the required voltages, I've tried both cameras, I've tried different channels, but the issue is still there. They just won't sync at anything faster than 1/30th, which I can sort of work around, but I'm also finding that even at 1/30th or less, the reliability of the triggers just doesn't cut it no more. That's why I'm really looking forward to getting a few Phottix Atlas units, which will be my first choice, but I'm also considering the RF-602 units.

Edit: the Phottix Strato 4-in-1 triggers are also possible contenders, but I guess I'll have to wait till they get released and with pricing details too.

Probably my pick of the four shots
