Svetlana-rat died this evening.

...at my parents' house, that is.

Last night my Dad went out and adopted two kittens; everybody felt that the house had been catless for quite long enough.  So now they have 9-month-old Dashiell (Dash to his friends) and 4-month-old Amanda (Mom wanted to call her Lilly, but Dad veto'd it because of my cousin who's called Lily.) It's 1 degree here this morning (-17 C).  I was planning to do some shoveling today, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not sure that I'm even brave enough to go to the grocery store (but I gotta. I don't recommend trying to scrape half a centimeter of ice off of your car before you've had coffee. You'll do things like fall on your ass a couple of times because you're in a hurry since you'd planned to leave an hour ago, and accidentally smack yourself in the face with the scrapey-thing.
