I think the most absurd part of the article was that they voted to have the nine members removed.

... The idea to kick democrats out of the church was put up to vote on, and not only did nobody (that I am aware of from the article) stand up and object to this sort of silliness... but the majority thought it was, in fact, a "good" idea to kick them out.

It just blows my mind the more I think about it.
