If someone is acting homophobic towardss you and they continue even after you tell them it's offensive then you fucking well should complain. Not everyone is strong enough to tackle discrimination - if you are you should make sure that you do - and that includes complaining further up. In the case of homophobia it affects everyone - not just though that are out and open about their sexuality. Closeted people need the defense too. So, yeah, fucking well give them shit back, but complain too - especially if it continues.
