School

My placement is going so much better than I thought it would be. But then, I was expecting evil little monsters who were going to shower me with hostility. Heh! Well, I'm a pessimist. The worst I got was this sweet, angelic kid going:

"Are you our supply teacher?"

"No."

"Well... good!"

I just laughed.

And then I got one kid, who upon hearing my name was James went:

"It's James Bond!"
He mimes shooting guns.

I just give him a cold stare.

"Are you making a new movie soon?"

"Yeah, there is a new one in the works."

His brow furrows.

"Do you die in it?"

I shoot him an incredulous look. "James Bond never dies."

He looks extremely confused.

"Is your surname actually Bond?" he asks quietly.

I shake my head.

"What is it then?"

"Cameron."

"Huh," he says thoughtfully. "Do you mind if I call you Kip?"

But yes, I actually got to do a little bit of helping kids with their work and it was really fun and productive and enjoyable and enlightening. Really, really good.

And one thing that made me laugh is that at the beginning of every day there's a staff briefing, in which the Head asks for announcements and instantly half the room (of teachers) raises one hand in the air in an uncanny imitation of classroom behaviour. The PE teacher did actually look like she was doing the bobbing/straining motion which cries out "pick me first, miss!".

*chuckles*

In unrelated news, segments of my story are vanishing. One scene has been completely removed from the text file. This happened before with a few lines of dialogue, but this was a whole, pivotal scene, neatly removed. What is worse, I think this is the copy I sent Arya, so the story probably missed that scene when she was reading it. Gutted!

I have no idea what's causing it. Maybe I have a strange alter ego that wakes up in the middle of the night and sabotages my novel!

Oh, and on the novel subject, we've abandoned Perfect World title. Still trying to think of something... The best idea so far is "Vibrant War". Hm. I quite liked "The Burnt Souls", although I guess it sounds a bit dark. "Dawn of the Vibrants" was suggested by a friend, but I can't help but hear "Sean of the Dead" parody whenever I think of it.

And finally, I got a text message from Dom saying: "The world is savage and cruel and I HATE IT!" I checked, though, and he's not suicidal, so that's alright. :)
