The Mal Guide to Swordplay
So... I've been thinking about Firefly and Serenity, and I realised that there was a noticeable similarity between the episode Shindig and the end sequence to Serenity.
I present to you, the Mal Guide to Beating Mad-Skillz-Sword-Dudes:
1. Make sure you are comically outmatched, either by facing him down with a screwdriver, or by getting your own sword snapped.
2. Further lull him into a false sense of security by letting him stab you, repeatedly if possible.
3. Pretend to be completely debilitated. He'll believe this because you've just let him stab you, beaten the hell out of you and (optionally) done some kind Vulcan Nerve Grip on your back.
4. Wait for the perfect moment, and then turn the tables, punching him a lot - swords, after all, are for wusses.
5. Rub in your victory by either a) stabbing him in the kidneys a couple of times or b) showing him how his entire belief system and life goals are a complete lie.
6. Rinse (thoroughly) and repeat.
