My friend is doing her teacher training (it's in Scotland, but the same one year intensive training course). She wants to be an educational psychologist, so this training is less a career for her and more of a means to an end. I totally understand what you're getting at with the hard, emotionally draining work. She hates it. It's one of the hardest things she's ever done, and when I spoke to her on the phone not that long ago... I was quite worried about her. I've never heard her sound so down.
But yeah... I guess the teacher training is tough. Even more kudos to you then, since you're hanging on in there and determined. :)
I'm sorry about your friend. A lot of people on the course are struggling. It's a hard course to get through if your heart and soul isn't in it, because it's the brilliant moments of being a teacher that life you back up again. I'm sure she appreciates your support. You need your friends around you when things aren't going well.
It's good to see you post, and I'm glad that you're having such an amazing time. I've considered teaching a few times but I'm too chicken to actually do it, except as a way to pay for grad school. It would take a lot of bravery and courage to step in front of a class and believe that what you're teaching them is right.
Glad to know that you're well! Also, it's good to hear that your novel is still in progress!
While it would be nice to get more updates, I would rather get just ONE like this than the ones where you were so stressed out and unhappy. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am this is all working uot for you!!
