Joyce and music

Dec 17, 2010 23:03

 Hello,

I'm writing a seminar paper about the use of music in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and "The Dead". I wondered if you could suggest to me some good articles about the subject or about these two works in general.

Thank you,
scruby

You're amazing, thank you for all your suggestions. I'll read about them. I did write in my paper that all the themes that will be explored through the book already appear in the first few pages but I was looking for a source to back that up. Maybe I'll write something about Wagner and Homer for this part.

Thank you again. I'm writing about leitmotif in my paper because of your suggestion. (:

That quote by Joyce is really good but I couldn't find it on the net so I don't think I'll use it.

Thanks again.

I really should've replied to this post, but finals week @ IUB was tremendously hectic. It would've been great practice for me since I'm studying and training to be a subject area specialist in English & American Literature through my MLS program, while attempting to produce more Joyce scholarship. At any rate, I hope your seminar paper turned out well. leopold_paula_b generated many great suggestions.
