First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! This is so amazing for you, I am so excited!
My dorms were nothing like those (you saw them) and I definitely hated it at first, but I wouldn't trade those experiences for the world now. The dorms are a great step in between living at home and living out on your own and you stand pretty good chances of making some lasting friendships while you're there. I'm not saying it was all good, obviously, and the rules (at least the ones i had) were totally ridiculous, but it helped--I didn't know how much until I was on my own.
Here's the deal with school and loans: you have to do it, you're going to be in debt, and there's nothing you can do about it. I use Sallie Mae for my school loans and pull out a little more than I need each semester for living money. Wes uses Wells Fargo for his loans.
Meeting the people and having the dorm college experience is the one thing I think I would regret if I skipped out. My social phobia is part of the reason I’m leaning against dorms. I have to share a place with other girls and they make you do a lot of getting to know each other stuff (there is a game day with everyone living on campus). There aren’t too many rules just keep the alcohol away from the under 21 year olds. Anyone can come in the dorm section of the school if they have a key (or jump the gate) and plenty of people do. Not to mention I’m tired of sharing. It’s a lame I know but…eh I don’t know. Everything’s pretty confusing right now I think I just need to tell myself to shut up haha. Unless it’s cheaper off campus I think I’ll be living in the dorms anyways
