April is National Poetry Month in the United States. I've never been able to write good poetry, but I do love to read it. Below is part of one of my favourite poems
( Read more... )
Hi. I know you don't know me, but you know my friend Shannon and James nd They've both talked about you, and you we're amazing in Lord of the Rings... and so I decided to come over here and look for myself... being the boring person I am.
So on topic with the poetry thing, my favorite poem has to be Valentine by an English Poet Carol Ann Duffy
Not a red rose or a satin heart
I give you an onion, It is a moon wrapped in brown paper It promises light like the careful undressing of love.
Here. It will Blind you with tears like a lover. it will make your reflection a wobbling photo of grief.
I am trying to be truthful.
Not a cute card or a kissogram
I give you and onion Its fierce kiss will stay on your lips possessive and faithful as we are, for as long as we are.
Take it Its platinum loops shrink to a wedding ring, if you like. Lethal. Its scent will cling to your fingers, cling to your knife
Thank you, Trish! (or do you prefer to be called Ms. Stratus?) I had not heard of this poem (or poet) before, but I like it very much. Thank you for saying hello and for sharing it with me. I've added you as a friend.
Call me Trish... My full name is too long (Patricia Anne Stratigas-Jacobs) So Just call me Trish. I just answer to anything really. I heard of that poem by accident, a fan gave it to me during a signing in london, and I've remembered it ever since. I've added you back, if thats okay.
