I see either Sycamore or Catalpa (the leaf) and I am leaning toward Sycamore.. since they fall before Catalpa.. and here the Catalpa haven't even started. My Syc however is littering my yard!

You're a keen observer! Yes, Sycamore would be the most likely. This was taken at a spot along the waterline of the Haw River. The woodlands there are a mix of pines and hardwood trees. The Sycamores prefer being as close to the water as possible; with roots reaching right into the river!!
Thanks for stopping by!

I am a FAN of sycamores. I planted one in my yard (had to go to FLA- out of state to purchase it!) to deal with standing water. Planted right at the edge of my drainage ditch because of their love of water.

Thank you, Joe. I was ready for a new desktop photo. Your sunflowers have graced my computer all summer...

Hello, E!! You are most welcome fer'sure!! Haven't been very active on LJ for a while now...I'm really not much of a journal writer and a rather poor "LJ friend" I fear....I often feel guilty about that and have been pondering giving up this journal....but haven't yet. If you are at all interested, I've been posting more photos at my "flickR photostream. Clicking on this image should bring you to it.

I hope things are well with you and your family.

I just went through your flikr images and pulled many onto my computer...I'm going to cycle through them weekly for my desktop image. It will make the long winter more festive here in my office. I hope you'll drop into LJ once in a while still. That's almost more than I do, but it's comforting to always find old friends here...
