You need something that's both classic and mind-numbingly dull. I'd go for the hard but edifying nonfiction: Kant, Hegel, Marx, Herodotus or Thucydides, maybe Hobbes' Leviathan. The conclusion I've reached is that upgrading every 6 months is more important than trying to get the fastest possible system at one point of time. The time and energy I used to spend optimizing my hardware I now spend making sure it's easy to swap out my current machine for a new machine with the least downtime. Leave a comment(Untitled)

I've been playing with javascript recently: I wrote my first greasemonkey script, for mefi (Welcome Back Mefite) and then my second, way more complex! (UserNotes). And I'm doing Hannah's website, although i've been neglecting that one a bit recently. This is very recursive, because in fact this entry was conceived entirely of the need to do something besides 'work on' my stupid csse3002 essay, which is stubbornly remaining at 2 pages out of the 10 I need.
