Dwayne, being the perpetual planner that he is who I will drive crazy for the rest of our lives, is trying to figure out the list of songs that we are going to play during the wedding ceremony....so far we have decided on all but one song. He wants me to pick the song that I will walk in on...I don't think we like the traditional wedding march and ( Read more... )

The usual song right now is Canon in D.

what is your favorite love song? i don't know if canon in D would sound as good over a speaker system (i'm assuming you're having a dj or someone else control the music, i.e. it's not live).

what song makes you feel loved and good about yourself? for some reason I picture you maybe walking down the aisle to faith hill. she's got some great music and i know you like country.

"it's your love" or some of the lyrics from "there you'll be" or even "it will be me" are really good.

if you don't like faith hill, i'm sure there's other possibilities.

maybe Switchfoot could be good, too. They're song "only hope" is pretty, I think that was the song they used in A Walk to Remember.

I found some cool links that have lists of songs that may help.

This one is for country songs:

this is for some classic love songs:

i hope these help!

"when you say nothing at all" was Dwayne's first suggestion too :)

I like "There you'll be" but its a little sad...do you think that would matter.

i think it's sad because it's in the past tense and it was tied to the movie "Pearl Harbor." But it's pretty and it shouldn't really matter. I had to re-listen to it and watched the music video for it--it's the stupid music video that is sad. ha!

I like the Alison Krauss version of "when you say nothing at all" for some reason. Three different people sing it, so check out all versions.

Geez, this is going to be hard when I have to start thinking about wedding songs. We booked this cute Romanian couple that play the flute and harp for the wedding, so that music won't be hard. But for the reception with the daddy/daughter dance etc. will be difficult.

Did you pick a song for the daddy daughter dance yet? I've always liked "Butterfly kisses."

I've been racking my brain and I haven't thought of anything yet.
Out of curiosity, what don't you like about the wedding march?

that what I have been doing too :)
I don't know why exactly I have just never been crazy about the wedding march...also it would not flow well with the electric guitar version of the marine hymn that Dwayne plans to walk in on.

actually, there's a difference between Canon in D and what they usually play in churches. What they play in the church is "Here comes the bride" which is usually sound likes "duuuhh duuhhh duh duh, duuuuhhh duuuhhh duh duh duh" played on the piano. Take a quick listen to Canon in D on youtube.

However, it seems like neither would fit your ceremony as well as another song like the ones we were talking about above.

So far the songs I like the best are "Ever the Same" by Rob Thomas, "When You Say Nothing at All" by Keith Whitley, "There You'll Be" by Faith Hill, and "Can You See the Love Tonight" by Elton John. But I can't decide if any of them are "right"....this is really

it's funny that sara suggested faith hill from the start, because that was one of my first thoughts too. but i really love "when you say nothing at all" too, and the other ones you're thinking about for that matter. are you thinking of these songs with lyrics or were you planning to use an instrumental version?

We are planning to use the songs with lyrics....the only one that won't have lyrics will be the eletric guitar Marine Hymn.
