the definition of marriage

I've decided to blog about this political issue because, frankly, i see the arguments of opponents of same-sex marriage as inherently baseless.  it truly disturbs me.  so i've done some research, gathered some opinions, and i am going to state my conclusion as clearly as possible.

I don't see any flaws. The last bold paragraph should be reason enough to allow any two adults to marry. We have a leader that is forcing freedom on another country, but is unwilling to grant freedom to his own.

Once again, you used a lot of big words. They scare me.

your intelligence is a dying light in this world Jake.

thank you for the compliment pete. but i hope you find reason for optimism, i certainly have recently.

and yes, your point about Bush is very astute. Did you know that the Iraqi constitution has a clause which states that is the right of every Iraqi citizen to be provided with a free higher education? Free college?! I guess it doesnt mean much right now in a country with serious infrastructure problems, but still.

aye,

I'm not completely pessimistic about our country. I love America very much.

I didn't know that about the Iraqi constitution. I just think that with all the problems within our borders that we should really concentrate on the future of education, the environment, and unemployment before we go hunting for an invisible enemy and "liberating" the world.

A matter like gay marriage shouldn't be as big of a debate as it is, when we have much bigger pictures to look at.

another scatterbrained comment from pete.

Thank you, Emily. While I hadn't intended it from the start, I realized shortly after finishing that I would like to restructure this entry as an essay. Frankly I was surprised by your grade; in it's current state this seems like an appallingly bad essay to me. Hopefully my revisions will do the issue more justice.

Also, if you put half as much work into grading your students' essays as you did into mine, you do about twice as much work as any professor I've had in college.
