First, let me say that I pretty much loved this film.  It was everything I hoped it would be.  Ledger was brilliant, and it is a shame that we won't see him in more films, particularly in a continuation of this role.  The rest of the cast, well, they were serviceable.  Eckhart didn't really get good until Two Face.  The story, as long as it was, ( Read more... )

i agree that it was worth the investment. on the other hand, i loved the scene with scarecrow, he's become one of the crazies of arkham, reduced to petty crimes. [plus i laughed].
and i don't understand how you can say he hasn't mastered high-budget action sequences. the chase scene on wacker? amazing.
otherwise i've got two other things to throw out to you:
1. did you notice anthony michael hall in the credits? apparently he was someone named "engal"--i can't remember the spelling. but i thought that was odd.
2. batman became a bat! i don't know how many people caught this, but i thought it was GENIUS. during the entire fight scene with joker in the building above the ferryboats on the lake he was blinded in his mask only able to see using sonar, just like bats--come on, it's brilliant!

i agree that the sonar thing was cool, unfortunately, it wasn't nolan's idea. if you remember they did a very similar thing in batman forever, which sucked. so yes, it was cool, but not terribly original. the whole batman's tools mimicking actual bats is a hallmark of the comics, as well.

and yea, the wacker chase was good. but parts of the film really were poorly edited. he has a lot of really inspired ideas, but just doesn't execute them as well as he could often. and like i said, it's not necessarily a bad thing, because it sort of takes the blockbuster feel away from the movie. i didn't feel like i was watching a michael bay movie even though it had the budget and explosions of one. This is also only his seventh movie, and only his third for a major studio.

i have to say that this was probably one of the best films ive seen. it really is terrible that ledger will never be able to reprise his role, and i cant imagine anyone else coming close to that interpretation ( ... )

Agree! I still swear I saw him breathing after the fall.

...nerd.

Also, AMH played Mike Engel, one of the reporters who was supposed to interview Reese I believe. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

and i want to make it clear, too. i loved the film. loved it. but im a fanboy and as such, feel it is my duty to point out even the smallest flaws ;)

and i really hope they use scarecrow in an interesting way in the future.
