The Muse asks: What would your life be, if it were a movie? Comedy, horror, drama, sci-fi? And who would play you?I do not believe that I could call my life a comedy, although I believe I can be very witty. Nor has it ever been a horror, not even in debtor's prison though to be sure that was an unpleasant experience, and I can't think of anything ( Read more... )

An honour, indeed, Captain, though I have never once been on stage. Or at sea, for that matter!

Is there no element of performance to being in the arena? I admit that it has always sounded barbaric to me, men fighting to the death for sport, so perhaps it is not something I can understand.

But never to have been to sea! If you would like to sail, it would be my very great pleasure to have you as my guest.

I heard they would flood certain arenas and stage naval combat. Even you would have to admit that even that would be quite interesting to watch and to learn from.

I have a question for you my dear captain, do you ever suffer from seasickness? I have always been curious on the matter, having never suffered myself despite many hours spent sailing.

Staged naval combat, in which men would be killed with no mind to training or defense or even the taking of prizes, at the whim of an Emperor? Perhaps the subjects of Napoleon would tolerate such entertainments, but I think that Englishmen never would.

As for seasickness, ha, what sailor does not? During a good blow in the Atlantic I have stepped to the rail, lost my dinner and gone right back to shouting orders to trim the sails.

Well, it would be a movie that I would certainly enjoy.

Why, I thank you. Recently in this community I was made to understand how a movie works, and I think I would like to watch the one about that Hornblower fellow.

You might also enjoy a series entitled "Sharpe's Rifles". They're about an english soldier in spain during the Napoleonic Wars. Well acted, well-researched and a wonderful story.

I have met that Sharpe fellow! The one who took the flag at Talavera. I don't think he trusted me very much; he seems to have a disdain for officers. Yet clearly he is an excellent soldier.

My life would most definatrely be a drama. I am very dramatic along with being a hopeless romantic. My life would definately not be a romance...considering...I have noone to love right now. I do belive that the Maximus gentleman should play you, although I must say that... you look more handsome:)

I thank you...Maximus seemed to believe that I could only play him if I were not so many stone! Who is the gentleman flashing in your picture...that is not your young man?

Oh...its another man I fancy. Seeing as I'm not settled down, I have my eyes set on many nice looking gentlemen:) Sadly, none of them have their sights set on me...

Buffy hides a grin. "You know, you're right. The resemblance is uncanny."

*looks at Buffy anxiously and sucks in his gut*

But do you agree with him that I am too obese to portray him?

*laughs* Obese? Geez, and I thought I was a drama queen. I've seen a demon so fat he couldn't even move; just sat in a tub all day with minions bringing him victims and keeping him moistened. That's obese.

*considers Jack, grinning, then shrugs* A couple of pounds, maybe, if you're that worried about it. You can train with me. Kill a few vampires, some regular jogging, that oughta do it!

Oh, my dear, no; if I were to kill vampires, stephen_maturin would never forgive me. Do you know, when we touched at Brazil he wanted to bring vampires aboard my ship? Can you imagine the men trying to sleep in their hammocks with all those bats flying around?

I do appreciate your very kind offer. What is "jogging"? Is that akin to climbing the rigging and shaking out the stays? Ha, ha.
