The Muse asks: If you knew that the world would end tomorrow, what would you do today?I suppose that I had better read my Bible and learn what I ought to do if the world would end tomorrow! I do hope that if I received such warning, I should be close enough at home to spend time with Sophie and the children, and selfishly I would want Stephen at my ( Read more... )

Buffy gives a small but certain smile, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. "You wouldn't need to know," she says. "Believe me, as long as I'm around, the world's not gonna be ending."

*returns a somewhat indulgent smile* I do admire your confidence. They say that no man -- nor woman, I should think -- may know the hour of the apocalypse, but I am no theologian.

Captain Aubrey, I've enjoyed reading your journal and was wondering if I could add you to my friends list? It's so nice you play the violin. I really like the violin, though it can take a lot of practice to make it sound pretty! Do you have a favorite piece or composer?

Why certainly you may add me to your lists. I am very fond of old Bach, though I do suppose that Stephen and I have played the Corelli more than any other piece.

Thank you, Captain Aubrey. I have added you to my list. I like Bach too, especially the concerto for 2 violins but Corelli is grand!

I can just imagine the chaos that would happen if everyone knew that that world was ending. You'd think people would want to put their things in order and say their final farewells but I couldn't see it happening.

But if you knew that the universe was to end wouldn't you want to see your family once more before you left?

To look upon the faces of my children, knowing that they would never grow to adulthood? I wonder whether I could bear it. Could you?

Goes silent to his words for a moment.

I never thought of it like that before. It would be hard for me to see Eldur again knowing he will be leaving me so soon. To know he will never live to become a man...

Then again it wasn't any easier learning of his death while on a mission against the Dominion. I think neither option is easy to accept but at least if I had to choose I would like to spend my last moments with him if not for anything else then to tell him how I feel.
