This thing. This terrible thing that is referred to on EVERY feminist, head-in-the-sand fuckface community or website. Gah. I started re-reading parts of it and ended up chewing on my own finger in rage. The whole "No Derailing" thing? It shuts down all non-rational AND rational arguments in a conversation. It makes it so you can't argue ANYTHING.

I read that page for about three minutes before my gag reflexes acted up. I figured it was better to leave it alone before I lost my evening and my sanity all in one go. On the plus side, it's made me all the more eager to get back to my schoolwork, so some good came from it after all. :P

AIDS jokes? Ew. Even without being personally touched by it, you'd figure people would just generally get that that stuff is not cool. It's like watching the "You Have AIDS" barbershop quartet ditty from Family Guy... a two-minute cringe-fest that leaves an "ew" in the mouth that lasts for hours.

It's good that your people listened when you asked them to stop, though. That suggests they knew it was totally inappropriate from the get-go and they were just testing the waters.

Back to work. *sigh*...

Yeah, I couldn't read it all either. Just made me too angry.

Well, the joke is this particular instance was really offhand and I wasn't even sure if I had heard it. Usually it's something laughed about by the gamer boys I play with this was a girl friend of mine and I thought I was hearing things. I clarified and asked her if she had said what she did, she said yes, and I said it wasn't cool, I don't like things like that, she said okay and that was the end of it. At least it ended without any drama at all.

But yeah, I don't even know how that kind of joke could in ANY way shape or form be considered appropriate. It happened after a 12 hour LOTR marathon, I gave her a bit of leeway.
