FIC: "The Inspection" by Kedd, G

So, read pretty much all of the comm today, and did indeed find my brain being eaten by the AU. Not that it’s been taking a lot to distract me recently. However, it did produce this:

Title: The Inspection
Author: Kedd
Rating: G (mild Sam/Jack ship)
Summary: Jack has to show the building owner around.
Notes: Not mine, just playing. Un-betaed, but ( Read more... )

Oh, Maybourne. Good thing Jack knows exactly how to deal with you.

Thanks for the lovely addition to the universe!

Thanks so much! I've loved what you had read for this universe and have been working my way (very enjoyably) through your website, getting my S/J fix.

Oh, that's always so nice to hear!

I'm glad you understood what I meant to write there, because clearly I didn't read that over again before posting. But yeah, I was very much enjoying your fluff (because I'm in that sort of mood today), and I also am a victim of bad timing as far as becoming an SG-1 fan goes. On the bright side, there are 10 years of fic out there to read (and still a large number of writers).

*chuckles*

Be sure to count your fingers if you should happen to shake Maybourne's hand, Jack!

*glee* Good story! More, please...

Thanks! I really liked "Skywise" btw, even though I can really never see Janet/Jack as more than close friends. But I have to say... the street hockey one really took the cake. It just worked for me; Jack's so sneaky and yet so in control. Fabulous!

I feel that without Maybourne it's possible for Jack to get a little too complacent. Needs Harry to keep him on his toes! Glad you liked.

Poutine!!! ::runs away in fear:::

Other than that, I loved this addition to the 'verse. You write an excellent Maybourne.

Yes, poutine is a weapon in and of itself. It really should come with warning labels "Eat this and feel your arteries clog." I've never been a fan myself, but some people swear by it...

And thanks so much, I was worried that Harry may have gotten away from me a bit (particularly during the steam room bit) -- he's fun, which makes him dangerous to write.

Heehee! Luckily, I've recently discovered Moxy Fruvous, or an awful lot of that would have made no sense whatsoever to me. *g* Jack's zamboni ambitions - heh.

I always love how much Maybourne manages to annoy Jack - endlessly amusing. Thanks for bringing him into this little AU a bit more! I'm glad it's eaten your brain. ;)

Ha! And I had to go and look up Moxy Fruvous, despite the fact I listen to CBC a lot. If you don't mind me asking, was it just the Canadian Content that made no sense (and was it in an 'inside joke' kinda way)? And trust me, every kid who grows up playing hockey wants to drive a Zamboni. I have no idea why we think it's cool, but it so is. *g* (And it gave me this great mental image of Jack driving a zamboni...)

Yes, I find Harry's ability to annoy Jack (way more than anyone else) terribly amusing too. Thanks so much for your comments, I've loved reading your fic here -- the Sam-Weir interactions have been great, as has, of course, the Sam/Jack.

Yeah, it was just the Canadian (or specifically hockey) stuff that I wouldn't have understood - I just don't know the references. But I like that, I hasten to add! I didn't mean that it was nonsensical, or anything like that - I like stuff that makes me go look things up, and go "Ohhhhh, I see!" Because Jack would totally know all that, and have those sorts of thoughts in his head, and make those sorts of references (I particularly liked So that had led to his current game-plan: in and out as fast as you can, with lots of hard forechecking. - so very Jack), so it's completely right for the character. And I try and stick things like that in my own stuff, but I'm just not familiar enough with it.

And, aw, thank you! I love how this AU bounces around, growing from the group hive mind. *g*

(Jack would be a terror on a zamboni, IMO. He'd be having fun, but everyone around him would be petrified he was going to run them down or something. Heh.)

Oh, good! I'm the same way, love to look stuff up, but (as I play hockey) that wasn't part of it. And some of the other stuff was as much for my amusement as anyone else's. And thanks, although I have to say everything of yours I've read so far has got a really strong and believable Jack-voice so that just makes this comment better. :D

Heh. Completely oblivious Jack enjoying his sweet ride while skaters scatter in terror in front of him. Unlikely to happen what with all the safety protocals rinks have nowdays, but amusing nevertheless.
