Cassie had babysitters, even though she wasn't a baby, she was a Big Girl Now, and could go to the toilet all on her own. Mommy said she was a very clever girl, but she didn't want Cassie to use sharp knives and ovens and stuff, so she couldn't make her own dinner. And she made people happy when she ( Read more... )

Awwwwwww.

Cassie's got to be the luckiest little girl!

(Stop doing this, I have plot bunnies! But I have no time for plot bunnies!)

Bunnies!

Yeah, Cassie's so lucky - I'm totally jealous. :D

I wish you more time in the day for the bunnies. *waves magic wand*

Well, I've been wanting to put it in a fic ever since you mentioned it. And Cassie being 5 - well, it just seemed to fit perfectly, really.

They're all just adorable in this universe, aren't they? *squishes them* I'm glad you liked. :D

Cassie wasn't sure she understood, but when she went home she put on her cloak and played at having a velvet revolution with her toys.

Love for this line alone. And I'm slightly jealous of Cassie now...

:) Peaceful protest as understood by a 5-year-old.

I am SO jealous of Cassie. It's just the biggest playgroup, really.

And Mommy knew everything, 'cause she was going to be a famous doctor and fix everyone in the whole world,

I think you captured that little-kid-adoration so perfectly!

I love how sweet everyone is with her (well, with the exception of Rodney because, um, Rodney doesn't do sweet, really, but he does tolerate her, so I suppose in his world, toleration=sweet. Or something).

You just know she's going to grow up and write a novel full of these outrageous characters.

Anyway, great job! :)

Aw, thank you! Glad you liked. I've been wanting to write a Cassie fic for this since it started, for some reason. It just... bit me. :)

Rodney is, of course, rubbish with kids, even well-behaved 5-year-olds. To be fair, John and Vala aren't all that great, either. I think Janet carefully ensured that there would be at least one responsible adult around for Cassie, each day. Well, for a given value of "responsible", anyhow. :D

That's a lovely idea, that Cassie would grow up to write about all of them.

I laughed right out loud at this. :D

Hee, the image amused me, too. I bet she was very magnanimous about it, too, and Rodney just kind of sputtered at her, in sheer outrage that she'd coloured in his very important textbook about molecular structure, and then had the audacity to forgive him when he got steamed about it. :D

And I was thinking of writing all the Cool Dudes from the Fourth Floor as a bit rubbish, but Cam kind of got narked about that, and said that he was really good with kids, actually, and don't I dare imply otherwise.

(And anyway, she coloured it in all wrong. That one should be blue, and those ones were red, and who the hell would ever colour that one green when it should clearly be orange?)
