Ashmores dead. The rest of his army has either taken off or is dead. I sent my men out through the town to make sure no more of his troops were lurking anywhere. The Mayor stopped by and informed us we had to get things cleaned up by the weekend. I reckon I'm not the only one who thought the guy was off his rocker. We'll get the town cleaned

I called my parents and Daddy and I talked for awhile. He says what I'm feeling is normal and there is no shame in being grateful that the people I love survived.
That it's possible to grieve for the people died, and still be happy for the ones who didn't. I told him about Paige. How we hadn't known each other that long, yet when I lost her, it felt like my heart broke.
*looks over at him*
How are you?

Your Dad's right. Theres no shame in being grateful for those who lived. *voice quiet* I'm grateful you're okay. Did talking to your Dad help any?
*sighs, shrugs*
I reckon I don't know. Just going through the motions for the most part. Though...I had to call her father. That was tough.

Turns out we had a lot in common. Didn't know her long, but she was my friend. Things could have been...
*words trail off*
Yeah, I told her you were proud of her. She was worried she'd let you down and I knew she hadn't. Probably shouldn't have intervened, but she needed to hear how proud you were of her. Just like you need to hear she was proud of you and grateful for how you treated her.
*shrugs*
We're all too young to see the things we saw and to do the things we did.
*looks at him*
You had no idea I'm nearly 22 did you?
Reply
I'm glad y'all had become friends, I'm just so damn sorry it was cut short.
*thinks about what she said*
Thank you. For doing that for me, for her. I appreciate you intervening on my behalf. If you hadn't...It gives me a little peace of mind knowing she knew that.
*kisses her gently*
Thank you.
*looks at her.*
Heh, no I reckon I didn't. 21? Ah..wow. You do realize there kinda an age difference between us right?

*shrugs*
I'll be 22 in a couple days and I figured if you're a captain you have to be in your mid thirties at least.

*smiles a little*
So you knew I was in my mid thirties, 34 at this moment just so you know, and that you were 21 and you didn't have a problem with this?

*leans against him*
You are so taking me home to meet him. It's not like my days aren't numbered before you and Trick gang up on me.
Reply
*smiles*
Yeah, I'm taking you home to meet him. I can't keep you all to myself forever. Maybe we can stop in there before heading over to Ireland.
*grins*
Trick and I would never gang up and pick on you, darlin'.

*rolls her eyes*
Uh huh. I know Trick. You guys will bond and then it will be pick on Kimmy time. It's all good. I can take you both.

Well you are the one you insisited we get along. Can't be upset if we form some unholy alliance against you.
*smiles*
I'll give him a call, tell him to get the house ready for company.
*grins again*
I reckon I could invite Trick to join us. He needs a vacation, too. That way I wont be outnumbered when you and my Grandfather join forces.
