[There’s a very bewildered tall blonde wandering around New Bark, followed by a Ralts hurrying behind him; he’s just been rushed out of the house, and is torn between being distracted by his surroundings, the Pokémon following him, and attempting to figure out the Gear.]
[After a minute of aimlessly wandering in circles, he settles on turning his attention to the Ralts, kneeling down to talk to the tiny creature.]
Hello there. You wouldn’t happen to know where we are, would you? [The Pokémon stops, fidgeting.] It’s alright; I’m not going to hurt you. I just think I’m a little lost - I didn’t think it’d be that easy to find the wrong door out of the Manor… [He looks up and around at the quiet, idyllic village, rubbing the back of his head.] I have to admit, this isn’t really how I’d pictured the Abyss at all, and you’re a very funny sort of Chain.
[The Ralts flails, shaking her head and waving her arms, earning an even more confused look from Jack.] This isn’t…?
[The Gear kicks on from someone broadcasting to it, causing him to flail, losing balance to end up sitting hard on his tailbone while he juggles the device and stares at it; after a pause deciphering what’s going on with it and that it just showed someone who seemed to be somewhere else talking, he starts messing with it, trying to decipher how it works.]
[The video feed is initially upside down, with Jack peering at it curiously; then the Gear’s nudged from behind, and Jack gives a small “ah!” as he catches what his Pokémon’s trying to convey and turns it right side up. ]
Ah - Hello there! My name is Jack Vesallius, and I think I’ve gotten lost … pretty badly… [He laughs, a little nervously.] Would anyone happen to know where I am? I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this village anywhere near Sablier, and I probably should head home eventually. [Of COURSE he was going to have to explore! But he wasn’t sure he trusted his family to take care of Vincent and Gil, and he was pretty sure Alice and Glen would miss him…]
