He is smiling now, knows she is too, but he has a boat to pilot, a crew to feed, can’t be thinking of inky, witchful eyes; forces himself to move.
I don’t know. A woman’s answer if he’d

ahakldjfdslk it's comments like this that boost my ego and make me want to write more. i'm so glad you like it, seeing as bill/babe isn't my forte - they just weren't one of the couples that jumped out at me upon my viewings. i had just always pictured bill as so god damned straight. but it's an interesting dynamic.
oh, much love, much love.

Heh, for some reason his absolute straight-ness makes the woobie and me love it even more. :D I think she summed it up best in RP with Bill saying, "I don't like men, just you, kid." *dies* Didn't jump out for me either, was quite crack-pair at first. Then I watched it again, and even if it's unrequitted, you KNOW Babe would follow him to the ends of the earth. *wibbles*
The fact that they're heteroplatonic life-partners in real life helps too. :P SIXTY YEARS. CHRIST.

oh, agreed, agreed! witchling and i were discussing it, and we decided that babe could definitely have a thing for bill, as a sort of hero-worship crush. And that is a wonderful summary. I can easily picture our Bill saying that.
Oh wow. I don't know if I could be friends with someone for sixty years. I'd end up punching them.

Woo! I'm glad you liked the skin of the planet thing. I've lately really been into personifying non-human objects with...organs, come to think of it. As bizarre as that sounds.
I love Mal and his code of ethics, and I love how it includes shooting unarmed men and pouting a lot.
Woo for flirty games that we promised ourselves we'd never play! And I must admit, the whole "woman's answer" thing was inspired from Kayla's "Kiss 'Er On The Mouth" drabble, which I found delightful. I think it's so funny that even in the future these gender stereotypes still exist - and I love it when Mal is frustrated by Inara's womanliness. "You're trying to use your wiles on me!" It's adorable.
Relevant? Yes. Glorious? Also yes.
