I went to the library yesterday and found "Jack the Ripper - The Final Solution" by Stephen Knight. It was published in 1976 in Great Britain then the revised edition in 1984

I don't want to spoil the book for you, as it would be better to make your own judgment, but Stephen Knight believed Jack The Ripper was Sir William Gull (a physicisan), and John Netley (a coachman), carrying out the murders, with Sir Robert Anderson convering up for them.

i read the first 3 chapters yesterday and it explained his lil theory thing. it makes sense. i couldnt see any obvious holes in it, but then i couldnt really concentrate very well due to screaming grade 10 children on trains. gr.....

This conspiracy theory is the one they have used in most films and TV series about the killings in the past 25 years. From Hell with Johnny Depp is probably the most well known. More recently someone has taken the theory on and suggested the accomplice was the world famous artist, Walter Sickert, and in turn that theory has been taken on by Patrica Cornwell to suggest that Sickert was actually the killer. All very exciting and commercially viable, but complete nonsense. None of the persuasive evidence suggests any of these theories have any legs. The single most important clue was the eyewitness description of the man seen over one of the victims immediately after she had been killed - the one time he was almost caught. The man looks nothing like the people put forward in the above theories. He does, however, look an absolute ringer for James Maybrick, another of the suspects. A lot of other persuasive evidence points in his direction too.
