So you know the term   "(fill in fad) is the new black"

Can I say one thing?  Who had the bright Idea that new black was cool. I personally am kinda bias to the old black and would like to keep it that way.  Here is to being self-righteous:

I AM THE OLD AND NEW BLACK!

I just thought I would throw that out there thank you.

I think the phrase means that whatever is the "new black" is replacing black as being a trendy, ubiquitous color, not that there is an "old" and "new" black.
