When everything else is just too lame...

Through a series of random and somewhat twisted events, I have concluded that upon completion of wine class and possibly, if the company sponsors me, the $1500 Level 1 sommelier certification, I am going to give the Breakers the finger and tell them they can eat their offer and fuck off ( Read more... )

Remember that post where I said something along the lines of "I like it when boys from Bristol speak?" Well, I've been living with that guy for a few months now. He was originally working at the Breakers for a year to satisfy a university requirement, but then the Breakers offered him a management position and said they'd take care of all his visa stuff, so he said yes, and moved in with me ( ... )

Sounds like fun. You will probably have a similar experience there to what he went through here though because they do not want to give jobs to Americans unfortunately. It's do-able though because I know an American who is living there with her English boyfriend and she works several jobs but doesn't have a visa. Hmm...have you thought about New Zealand or Australia. YOu can get the visa for at least a year and half for NZ/Oz combined.

I have never been to Bristol. Always wanted to visit though. Sounds like a great adventure!! You will love it. :)

They've already assured me that I'm more than welcome, visa or not, and since I'll have no living expenses, it won't be a huge issue, although I would certainly rather be able to work (legally).
And yes, we've talked about Australia and New Zealand, and may end up going there after he finishes his degree, but he wants to finish up at his university before he goes off doing anything else... that's really part of what screwed him out of his visa here, because if he'd at least had a degree, he would have been more highly qualified on paper.
