Jack approaches the abandoned apartment complex.  He looks around very carefully, taking a brief moment to focus his senses on his surroundings, then when he is confident that no one is around, he dissolves instantly into a black mass and slips through a crack in the wall.  He materializes into his room, which is completely dark, no lights
