Summary: Myrtle gets revenge.

The first year after Myrtle died, she mostly sat in the bathroom and cried because, well, she was dead. There were so many things she'd always wanted to do, and it just didn't seem fair.

Sometime during the second year, she realized that she while she couldn't do those things anymore, she could watch. And sometimes, just sometimes, she could get revenge.

It was an accident at the start, actually. She'd flooded her bathroom yet again, and Professor Dumbledore had come in to try and calm her down, and frankly, she was just sick and tired people trying to do that-she was ,i>dead. She was allowed to be angry and upset, right? And so, trying to avoid having to listen to yet another well-meaning lecture about moving on (as if she didn't know exactly what he meant by that, and he was absolutely mad if he thought she was going anywhere because HELLO, had she mentioned that she'd died here?), she dove into the toilet and, for the first time, disappeared into the pipes.

There were many twists and turns down there, and it took her quite a while to find her way out again, but eventually she saw little spots of light up ahead and raced toward them. And ended up in one of the showers in the Gryffindor locker room. She froze for a second, eyes wide, and then promptly faded into invisibility because, well. Well. Oh my.

There were many things Myrtle could have imagined seeing in the locker room. Olive Hornby with her head buried between Rolanda Hooch's thighs wasn't one of them. The fact that Hooch was the Gryffindor Seeker, while Olive's boyfriend was Seeker for Ravenclaw, only made it that much more... wonderful.

Cackling to herself like she'd always imagined a real witch would, in the days before she knew there were really such things as witches at all, she plunged back into the pipes and headed back to the school to find someone, anyone to tell. And tell again. With details. It only would have been more satisfying if she could have held a pen and drawn it on all the bathroom mirrors. The stories about what went on in the showers after Quidditch reached legendary proportions.

Rolanda Hooch, being who she was, didn't seem to care much what the castle ghosts said about her-if anything, it only made her more popular with a few of the other girls in school.

Olive, on the other hand, was quite miserable, and Myrtle felt completely and totally, very happily, to blame.

Perhaps being dead wasn't entirely awful after all.
