My Dead Files (or, multi-fandom fic bits)

Dec 16, 2010 18:52

This week, I had this really stressful moment (yeah, I know, I'm a geek, but it seriously stressed me out) where I couldn't find a bit of fic I'd written about a year ago. I wanted to actually use it for something, finally, and then couldn't find it. ( Rambliness, and various-fandom fic links )

bsg, la femme nikita, fic, alice in wonderland, hp fanfic, fandom, random, dead files, writing

Squee! I'm so excited to read these! I really liked those snippets of the unfinished TR fic that you posted before, so I'm happy so see more lost treasures.

I don't know if I'd call them treasures. Lol. These are a lot smaller and a lot less coherent than the one I posted before, and have virtually no plot, as they're kind of just... story bits. But they were fun to write, so... that's something, right? :D

Oh, you're always too modest. I hereby name these..."Jackie's Lost Treasures." Or "The Lost Treasures of Jackie?" IDK.

Thank you. You are very generous. I'd never let anybody see my unfinished stuff.

Also, LJ says it's your birthday today, and if so, have a very happy birthday! I know I never commented, but I do read and do care, and I wish you with all my heart to have a better year than the one just ending now.

tt.

Thank you!! I appreciate you taking the time to comment today--I can do a fair bit of lurking myself when it comes to other people's journals, and so perfectly understand when people don't comment on a regular basis. <3 So far this new year of life is starting out well, and with any luck, it'll only get better from here! :D *is optimistic*

Oooh, LFN stuff!

Your "unfinished" writing is so polished, it's amazing. I love all of these, including the OCs, but I'm especially fond of the Madeline-as-a-nine-year-old one. You fleshed that out so vividly, I was despising Aunt Judy right along with her.

Thank you for sharing these!

Your "unfinished" writing is so polished, it's amazing. I totally wish I was just awesome like that, but the truth is, I spend an ungodly amount of time writing and then rewriting scenes in my head, and then talking out the dialogue and whatnot, and by the time I sit down to actually put pen to paper--or fingers to keyboard, as the case may be--the scenes are often fully formed, right down to word choice. Yes, I'm a big geek. Lol. As a result, about three quarters of everything I write is almost exactly the same from draft one to final posted version, only making edits for grammar and whatnot. (The other quarter is written, wibbled over, rewritten, and then usually eventually discarded in favor of something I like from moment one instead. I'm all... fickle ( ... )

Are we twins? Because I am exactly like this. My actual time spent writing a story is usually pretty short--because I've "written" it beforehand. I always thought I was weird because I know some people spend weeks working on something, whereas I can have a story finished in a matter of hours.

Oh, and I also really enjoyed the young!Madeline POV story. I would definitely like to see you do more of that. And I also loved OCs Ben and Audrey--your OCs are always great.

This is awesome. It's a relief to know I'm either not weird, or at least am not the only one who's weird. Lol. The only downside I've found to writing like this is that every once in a while (read: at least one part of every fic), I have something in my head that I can't figure out how to put into actual words, and the story gets stuck (*looks sheepishly at Some Things You Lose*). Lol.
