Concerning the job situation:

Jul 03, 2007 21:37

After the concerns raised in the voting post and discussion with the mods I would like to address Harper's job.

I will admit I picked Harper's job for purely comedic reasons but I did intend to do things with it. I thought the idea of Harper being forced into various secretarial duties would be funny. Granted, it's not something that would last overly long but I had plans for that as well.

Now, because of the Director situation I can't make him a fully functional secretary and I knew this going in. Thus he becomes a, well, human answering machine. It would be his job to take down/record any messages, complaints, questions, death threats, other things directed at the Director. That, of course, would be it. He would have no contact with her directly, or even know if she picked up the messages.

Secondly there is the possibility of him being forced to do filing on certain occasions. To prevent chance of godmoding the files would be completely unreadable (and sometimes completely inane) to any camper or counselor who attempted to access them. Possible occasions would be, say, after another IC cabin re-assignment or during/after app rounds.

In addition to the secretarial concerns he would eventually find his own way around and get comfortable in some position (likely dealing with the laptops and camp network) he'd actually willingly do.

The concerns raised in the voting post made me worry that perhaps what I had intended wasn't kosher or somehow infringed on camp in some way. I do not wish to do this. I did contact the mods to ask and they suggested that I bring this before the player population.

So here I am. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Concerns or objections?

In the event that his current job does infringe/isn't kosher I had thought of giving him a pre-entry job retcon but I'm not sure if that's allowed either.
