Question! Is this just a camp effect or a permanent change?

Camp effect. It's an aging up, so, a week at most, I'd say.

If he's a machine-god, would he be able to see past KOS-MOS's firewall?

Could he? Yes.

Will he? Not unless she gives him reason or permission. He will respect her privacy! \o/

The thing is, he may be uh. pinged.

I don't doubt he will. He'll probably outright ask to interface. But if she says no, he does have self-restraint.

And as for what his pings/sensors/etc will tell him, we can discuss it ahead of time or as we go!

Watari will be pinged like woah. ...as will all his robotic constructs like 003. I have no idea how much I've gone into Watari's cyborgness with you before, but to sum it up, he's linked to (or is?) the computer that runs everything in the place were souls are processed in the land of the dead. He's also linked to Enma-daioh's thoughts and memories, but...doesn't always understand what he gets from there because the god's mind is...well, beyond him. It's all very vague in canon.

From the sound of it, Harper's going to be able to sense all of that? Watari himself will obviously have the normal cyborg pings off of Harper and probably the dead pings, too.

Haaaaaaaah. Pi's got AI triggers that are set to "shoot to kill", mainly, but she's been letting that kind of slide in camp so you can probably talk her out of it and or overwhelm her--she's good, but she's not that good. Also, the avatar thing, which I think you saw the essay for, but if not, it's in her journal.
