ok so get this... apparently there are little rocks in your head that tell you if you're standing still, or accelerating, or tilting your head.  if somebody gives you a good bump on the noggin, those stones might get dislodged and float into a neighboring sensor that tells you if you're spinning around or standing still.  if that rock's there

i think that long ago, when people died, anatomists used to steal bodies (fresh ones) from graves and then cut them up.

otherwise, we can just chalk it up to "magic"
