I don't get confunk - I mean, I know what it is but... doesn't everyone attending a US con stay in a hotel room with a shower?
Here in Denmark, cons are held at schools, so bathing involves the school's gymnasium. But when you got a hotel room, why don't you bathe regularly!?!

Some people are lazy. Some just don't care. Others don't have good hygiene to begin with. I'm sure there are other reasons, but I think those are the main ones.

Gregor's nailed it. Pity those of us who sit at booths all day and have to use the bathrooms in the convention hall. :/

I believe it's part of the geek-factor: the higher it is, the poorer the hygiene is.

I share office with an über geek who's not a gamer but he's a genuine trainspotter, so he rarely showers, doesn't use deoderant and wears the same T-shirt for a week. I think computers, lack of scoring and the fondness for confined spaces together make up the horrible odeur you're experiencing. Having fun? ;o)

LOL While walking around at a Con, notice how little understanding there is of personal space, simple courtesy, and public etiquette. Many people at Cons just never go around other people. Ever. They walk around blundering into each other, rushing past other people to meet or see someone, breaking in line without even realizing they are doing it. It's a simple lack of understanding of these things.

Bathing, sadly, falls to that lack as well.
