And this is after being manhandled and possibly thrown by groundstaff at Brisbane, Kuala Lumpur and London. Which come to think of it is extra surprising.
Of course I did stick it in the best hard case that I could afford: this chunky black SKB thing that I've since stickerized to an inch of its life. And I bound it up with gaffa tape to make sure the whole thing didn't fly open at 40 000 feet.
The jury is still out as to whether you're supposed to let the strings loose or keep 'em tight for air travel, so I left the tension on. No ill effects, it seems.
(I did consider getting a custom roadcase with the rubber interior, but at the time decided that I couldn't spare the expense)
That's a prime cut of Korean beef there, rather eye-opening. The stories that I've heard involve moving the guitar the other way across the continent, specifically from US back to Malaysia(the body cracked) - I wonder if that makes any difference?
I think that I probably trouble myself more with the transport of my guitar back home next year than I do actually trying to get good at playing the thing(I've given up trying to tune by ear, it's a looong process).
I've also reasoned it out (all rather naively) that loose strings were probably better, and might just try that, no need to place extra strain on the thing as it already is.
