Heh, you know I want to know what twelve down is, right? I also plan on trying swiss cheese on eggs, that sounds good! Of course, a little ham would make it even better.... I'm hungry. ;)

Twelve down was almost certainly a scientific pun. It took Sam a couple of minutes, but she figured it out in between "helping" with six across and ten down. And by that time she was having enough fun that they finished the rest before hanging up.

(In other words, I'm not exactly sure what the clue was.)

I love the mention of a bet! SG-1 is on scifi right now and its the episode where Jack loses a bet to Daniel and Sam's all annoyed about it because it involved her.

Cute!! Yes, they are good friends, which I sometimes forget since my ship goggles are on so tight. Fun snippet of friendship. Love that Jack won't let her forget that tent incident of seven years ago.
