Snow advice needed!!!

Friends, I need advice. We have had the heaviest snow since 1982 and I thought I had good enough shoes with hiking boots, but given our current situation, I need new shoes! Also any other tips for what I need to buy? I am going to get a sled as my 2 year old can't walk far in it (it's too deep) and we all have good hats, gloves and coats, but what

I've been given the tip of old socks over the shoes you wear. Something about a better grip? TBH, I've just been slogging round with Lidl's finest ankle high wellies and sweats, and hoping straight into a warmis shower when I'm back inside.

I had wellies on (Dunnes best), but my feet were freezing then! Even smallies sick of the snow now... LOL!
