I think I would definitely go with the food grade sealant, just to be safe.

but then they won't be preeety colors - unless I get a couple different colors of stain .... hrm.

Ah, got it. The I would just go with bright, non toxic colors.

bought milk paint yesterday but have too many guests to do antyhing until NEXT weekend. :(
