If it was during the David Lynch interview, I'd have said no.

Today, as I drove, listening to an NPR segment on astronomy, my passenger asked, in an annoyed tone, if I would turn off the radio ( Read more... )

It was probably a message I've been expecting from Sirius. Sometimes their telepathic cosmic ray devices go a bit awry. It's hard these days to get the same service you used to.

The Sirians should switch to Verizon. I get great reception with them, and a new phone every two years.

Well, that Ira Flatow has such a melodic voice it could lead anyone into Teh Crazies.

'Course, yesterday wasn't Friday so you were likely listening to someone else. :)

Yeah, some local guy, he's on in the mornings, I think the same guy who hosts the bits about local history and how to get rid of invasive plant species.

Fun you Mr Lynch, you crazy motherlover. I watched Inland Empire last night and then had to think of ways to immediately forget what I'd just seen so I could go to sleep. You lousy genius.

I haven't seen that one yet, but I have seen most of this others. My favorite is the Twin Peaks movie (which I saw, having never seen the tv show) and I still quote it to this day :) "Theees eees formica table - greeeen eeees eet's color."

In the interview, Lynch kept going on and on about Transcendental Meditation, which is pretty awesome, full of esoteric yumminess.

I think it would have been a fair trade for him to let his voices speak out loud, since he denied you your other entertainment.

Dear Jack's Taxi AKA Mr. Taxi Manners,

Do your fares ever sit up front?

If I hopped in the front seat and I was your only passenger, would that be cool with you or would it make you uncomfortable?

I always wonder this. I don't take taxis a lot, but I do take hotel/airport shuttles when I am traveling for work. I always feel weird being the only person in the back of the van to the hotel, so I often sit up front. I have some squeamishness about being a rich snob in the back of the van, and I'd rather have a conversation up front.

Thanks in advance for your manners advice,

Jessica

An interesting question that I have always wondered about myself.

I prefer if my fares sit in the back, assuming there's not four people and they HAVE to sit int he front. Otherwise the only people who really sit up front are the old, the obese, and the mentally handicapped. I'm not bothered by people sitting in the front, but in the back, it feels more appropriate since they're paying me and all.

so, do you have the bullet-proof partition like the cabs here in The City? And is that your actual taxi in the userpic--or just a generic image you found online? And when are you going to start taping "Cash Cab: Madison?"

Sorry for all the questions. It's late and I'm feeling a bit wacky
