I don't mean to be a total cuntragface, but, like, you know that propaganda used to humiliate/effeminize/gayify Muslim leaders is kind of a sad grand ol' tradition that's used both here in the good ol' USA and to advance our interests abroad, right? Like there's no better way to turn countries against countries or people against their leader than by insinuating he might be a little, ah, light in the loafers. And sometimes it ends very badly

Like I get how the context between you and your bf could make it seem cute and sweet, but what they're really saying here is "We are the USA. You are a punk faggot. Learn your place." and that there is a history of this kind of thing, and it's propaganda, and needs to be recognized as such.
