we were discussing that in class actually, about how this would be nothing big on our news venues if it happened in Iraq. Also that it was completely predictable he would do it and school officials didn't act, but that's another issue.
If we were to act on every bit of intuition and information about our peers, we would live in such a world of fear, that there would be no progress.
We are already being raised in such a world of fear, that our growth has already been stunted.
The instant that something of this nature happens, there is immediate blame being tossed about. No one wants to be held responsible, and no one wants to be associated with those held responsible.
I feel it's necessary to look at the holistic view of the environment and society that we live in. What about it has shaped people to be depressive, negative, filled with hate and angst. How can we as a society change things. Not point blame at the administration and say they didn't take the appropriate steps in helping this person. We all need to help each other...
I hear you, that's not exactly what I meant, rather than he had a history of violence and stalking, setting a fire in his dorm room, etc. In any domestic violence situation there's a cycle and so he would eventually break...but no one of course would know to what extent he would take it to.
