Well, we are back in Edinburgh again after a couple of great days in Shetland where we saw more puffins and a seal, really close in. We went up to unst which is the most northerly of the Shetland islands - took a 45 minute drive to the first ferry, 30 mins to cross the island of yell to get to the second ferry and then about 40/45 mins to get up to

Sea kayaking in the US, one is forbidden to approach the marine mammals, but the mammals are unaware of the rule. When a seal surfaced near me (about 12 feet away) I pretended to be afraid and fled, thinking this would encourage the seal to leave me alone. Instead it chased me around the cove, bumping my skeg and surfacing as close to the boat as it could, quietly, then snorting loudly and diving again, playing a game.
They're brats.
