Day two on Shetland
The heat is amazing - not as hot as Manchester but even so, without a breeze it feels more like southern Italy. Today we are on the small island of mousa, and have seen the broch, been dive bombed by bonxies and are about to go look for seals. Shetland
After an overnight trip on the ferry (with the best shower of the holiday yet) we have landed on Shetland, and have already been around jarlshof, and are now awaiting food. Very tired as the ferry didn't offer the best nights sleep despite the lovely cabin. Shetland feels very different to Orkney - the roads are much bigger and the houses seem to ( Read more... ) -
Orkney, continued.
Two busy days of much sea breeze and walking along cliff edges. Yesterday we went to skara brae, the Kitchener monument, the brough of birsay, the earls palace - and then finished up in stromness for another fish and chip supper (the one in Kirkwall had better fish, the one in stromness better chips)

Ok. I take my earlier post back :) a little smooth talking by john got us booked on the ferry for Sunday without Id for him which means we are going to Shetland after all :) also, whilst eating a piece of tiffin, a piece of johns tooth broke off which meant we left skara brae in a hurry, having only got as gar as the cafe... Orkney
I don't know if I am relying on faulty nostalgia, but the people I have come into contact with this time around have seemed much less friendly and a lot more corporate. The campsite has a big new shower/ facilities block - much improved on the old one - but it now needs a code to get in and rather than just pitching up on site and going round to ( Read more... ) -
Day one of holiday
Relaxing at the campsite in Edinburgh - going to chocolate soup tomorrow hopefully :) heading up to Orkney in a couple of days, going to spend maybe a week there. Missing wow already! ( but hopefully not for long :) ) pictures of Orkney to follow :)

Writer's Block: Place of Residence
A straw bale round house with pods coming off it - one containing a kitchen, another a craft room, and a third a japanese style bathroom. Lots of curves, thick walls, and wood. I would mosaic bits of it, inside and out.
