I'm with you on that, not that I illegally download but I do check things out on AudioTube/YouTube etc before deciding to buy an album or not.

I'm sure, as legitimate and legal as it is, I bet the labels hate Spotify as much as they hated Napster.

I also think that people don't actually *like* music or film, they just want a point of reference with their friends, and to like the things which are currently prescribed for their social grouping. Or to put it another way, their perception of their own preferences and their critical faculty is hopelessly buried under mounds of insecurity and desire to fit in. Having to make up their own mind about things is terrifying! I suspect most record executives of belonging firmly in this group, and of wanting to control it.
