let me ask:

i am at a young stage in my life i suppose
a stage where for the first time, i encounter no direction
i have always had a goal i felt passionately about
where the journey was very much the destination
what happens when you have no destination?

maybe it is easier because you don't have a place you're trying to get to
that maybe you could fail along the way, and not reach

maybe you just need to figure out where you want to face for the next 6 months

so for example instead of standing at the door wanting to be in Rome
you just need to stand there and decide if you're going to go for tacos or grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch today...

you are so right! wow. instant anxiety surpresser. i love you claude. i am going to grab myself a grilled cheese sandwich and re-read your response whenever i feel the apathetic-anxiety monster coming on.

i think this is the time when the journey actually becomes the destination

gleaning meaning from the things around you and taking cues as to which direction to go in--but when you are very goal-minded, the end is the destination...now it's the time to enjoy the ride...welcome to post-graduate life

do my ramblings reek of postgraduate cliche?
but yes, that is precisely where i now find myself
your reponse is enlightening
and comforting
and true
i am not occupationally enjoying the ride yet, but i am finding my way, still realizing where my needs/blueprints occupationally fit...thank you so much for your insight
can i know who you are?

the gleaner is from a documentary "the gleaners and i" by agnes varda...the film is about recognizing and re-evaluating what is otherwise often discarded...she aesthetically investigates this theme and applies it to profound levels, re-evaluating herself, time, history, and provoking the viewer to challenge their own relativity of meaning/purpose...the beauty of the overlooked, the truth and meaning that can be gleaned in such moments

Hey,
what's wrong with just chilling for a bit?
Your working towards one goal with your job, and like Mr Anon says, look for the cues to take new steps, maybe it will be towards another job.

Besides your core values, what's important to you today, most likley will not be 10 years from now.
