I wanted to post something that wasn't super depressing or at least was a little less gut-wrenching than the other stuff I've posted on here the last couple of times. I miss posting and updating to an actual blog and I find that I just can't do that with Tumblr. It's a great place for gifs and pictures, but it's a really awful place for expressing

Well said! I agree with everything you said, especially the bit about people being confrontational. They are - it's incredible, or it would be, if it wasn't also so sad. I mean, not everything is meant as an insult, and some people are uneducated rather than just plain ignorant - you could be nice and polite and educate them and maybe make a difference, but a lot of people get aggressive right of the bat and that's seriously off-putting. Not that it doesn't happen on LiveJournal too, but the whole design of Tumblr, compared to LiveJournal, makes it a lot more visible on Tumblr.

Tumblr is still a great place for people in various fandoms, though, I don't think I'll be able to quit it any time soon.

I feel like it's easier to be negative on tumblr because it's so easy to reblog (with or without adding extra comment) whereas on lj you have to go to someone's page to comment.
