FIC MASTERPOST EPILOGUE
It was dark from where they came from, darker than the path they both agreed to take, with their hands clasped tightly together; he’s not scared anymore for he knew it was better this way - leaving all the pain behind and go some place where they could be together without hurting anyone.
Forever, that’s what he said, and he guessed it was the word he had been waiting for; forever, he wanted to say back, but he couldn’t because he’s slowly slipping away and there was no way to stop it. It didn’t matter though, because he knew the other was aware even when he couldn’t answer back.
He saw a bright light looming over him, over them, so bright that it had taken over the fire that was slowly burning him from within; it felt different from the scorching heat from seconds before, so different and yet -
“We’re taking you home now,”
Oh.
“-back home where you can both lay to rest,”
He smiled and felt the other’s hand squeezing his, tightly, comforting in a way that he knew he’s not alone.
Together, the other murmured against his ear, and he nodded.
Yes.
Together.
Forever.

He awoke to the familiar feel of someone’s breathing against his neck.
He popped an eye open and squinted, letting his eyes wander at the lump that was currently curled around him, almost lying half on top of him; he knew it should feel kind of uncomfortable, what with him being trapped beneath the other’s body to the point of pain but found that he didn’t really care, not when…
“Oh my god, Sho-chan, Jun-chan, come here quick! Nino’s awake, he’s awake, oh my god!”
Awake?
“Stop yelling, you moron!” someone hissed from somewhere, and the voice sounded really familiar that he couldn’t stop himself from wanting to check who it belonged to, trying to squirm out of the vice-like hold that was keeping him from making any movement. Then there was sounds of more shuffling, the sound of gentle murmurs following shortly after. “You’re going to render us all permanently deaf with your screaming, you stu -“
“U-Ugh,” was all he could come up with, groaning some more when he could have sworn he’s been held down more tightly, and the pair of arms that were currently wrapped around him tightened even more.
“Nino? Can you hear me?” a gentle voice whispered, coaxing him to open his eyes, followed by an almost soothing stroke of that someone’s fingers across his cheek, soft and barely there. The voice repeated its question, calling him with the name he’s gotten used to since he and Taaka were kindly adopted by the humans.
He opened his eyes, still squinting at the almost blindingly bright light coming from above, blinking repeatedly so as to adjust his eyes; he was met with a face he’s sure he wouldn’t ever forget, smiling in that kind and gentle way even with his brows furrowed in worry.
“J-Jun?” he called, the man’s name slipping out of his mouth before he even realized he said it and the man’s face lit up so brightly that it almost looked out of place with the fact that the man was currently biting down on his lips, while he’s blinking so fast it almost looked comical.
But it wasn’t, because he could feel it in the way the man’s expression softened, his fingers stilling against his temple before letting his touch swiped down to his cheeks that the man was barely trying to keep his emotions reined in.
An almost impatient wriggle stopped him from reaching out to touch Jun’s face, the brief, barely-there-wonder was quickly replaced with the urge to know what was happening, since he was fairly sure he shouldn’t be seeing Jun or anyone for that matter, shouldn’t be feeling that all-too-warm sensation that he usually just felt when Taaka’s close enough for him to touch because --
Because for one, wasn’t he supposed to be dead?
“Y-Yuuji?” a voice added itself to the confusion, throwing him off-guard, shocked, frozen still as his eyes focused on the moving mass of brown hair un-burrowing itself from his neck and pulling away enough to look him in the eyes.
He was sure he’s about two seconds away from screaming and possibly shoving the stranger off of him when the man (who’s face he didn’t recognize) smiled softly, almost hesitantly and called his name out again.
“Yuuji, it’s me,” the man said, his voice sounded so different from the voice he was used to hearing, but he was sure, even without asking to confirm it, that he knew who the man was.
“T-Taaka?”
The man’s smile almost faltered and his eyes looked suspiciously wet (even worse than Jun’s) before Yuuji realized that the man was reaching out to touch his face, the man’s lips and fingers trembling as they made contact with Yuuji’s skin.
The sounds of muffled cries and sniffs could be heard from the background at the same time Yuuji’s eyes widened, grabbing whatever part of the man he could reach.
“Taaka! W-What… W-Why… H-How -“ he paused, stuttering, confused at the sound of his own voice and scared at the fact that he could see the reflection of his face on Taaka’s brown eyes - completely different and without the trace of the yellow alien he once looked like.
“Nino,” another voice called him from the side, and he looked up, enough to see the familiar faces of the people who had been his and Taaka’s family on Earth, seeing the smile on their faces that he never thought he would be able to see ever again.
Sho walked over, dragging his weeping lover beside him and Yuuji suddenly wished he wasn’t just dreaming. “Nino, you’re awake; how are you feeling?”
His throat was closing up, his eyes felt like they were about to fall off (or not, because when he blinked, something fell down his face, wet and warm against his cheeks), and a pair of hands -- probably Taaka’s - were gripping his, tight enough to hurt.
He looked down to where his and Taaka’s hands are joined, gasping at the sight of the unfamiliar pair of small hands that were being held tightly by Taaka’s longer, slender ones.
He felt the bubble of laughter escaping his throat before he could even stop it, and basking at the unfamiliar swelling in his chest when he looked up to see the way Taaka’s mouth curled into a smile he knew wouldn’t regret loving from now on.
“T-Taaka,” he whispered, testing his voice once again and completely ignoring the wailing sound from the background (surely Aiba’s voice, no doubt about it), and using the hand that was still imprisoned inside Taaka’s own, he pulled the other and leaned in to nose at Taaka’s smooth cheeks, breathing the unique scent of his lover in. “H-How did we --? W-What happened?” he found himself whispering using the human’s language, feeling another set of hands across his back, gently, gently.
Taaka remained quiet, until someone - must be Jun - cleared his throat and prodded Yuuji by the shoulder. Without taking his hands away from Taaka’s, he shifted on his back and found himself smiling, seeing as Jun already plastered an affectionate grin on his face.
“Your fathers came,” Jun said by way of explaining, reaching over to help Yuuji to sit upright, taking Taaka with him, not letting the other go even if it still felt somewhat awkward to be holding someone as soft, so different from the body he used to embrace before; Jun threw Taaka a convincingly fond smile before he went back to facing Yuuji, patting Yuuji in the arms comfortingly. “Do you even remember that?” Jun asked, looking down to squeeze at Yuuji’s hand when Yuuji visibly winced.
Yuuji nodded, clearing his throat before answering, “Yes; w-well, at least most of it. I thought we were dead, me and Taaka, and that I was hallucinating when I heard the familiar voices of my fathers.”
Jun nodded, seemingly deep in thought. “You almost were,” Jun answered with a shiver and Yuuji reached out to pat Jun’s hand, returning the gesture. “ - dead, I mean; Good thing your fathers came on time.”
Yuuji found himself nodding again, contented in the way Taaka chose to remain quiet by his side and simply holding him close, breathing warmly against his neck.
“But how did we --?” he said, paused and gestured to himself, staring at the top of Taaka’s head, still feeling the confusion settling in; “I mean, what happened to our bodies?”
Jun shrugged, as if the thought wasn’t something he would willing to revisit again, if he could; but then he guessed there was no helping it since Taaka looked hell bent on keeping his mouth shut, thus leaving Jun no other choice but to speak for the rest of them. Yuuji felt himself starting to grin when he saw Aiba’s fingers moved to grip at the front of Sho’s shirt, blowing his nose at the front of his boyfriend’s tshirt.
Jun chuckled and shook his head in mock exasperation when he realized what Yuuji saw and then turned his attention back to explaining.
“They were destroyed,” Jun said carefully, slowly as if he didn’t want to upset Yuuji any further. He felt Taaka stilled against him, fingers finding his and holding on as tight as he could. “W-When Ohchan decided to, you know -“
“When Ohchan chose to die the Romeo and Juliet way, that is, killing himself and then burning both your bodies to crispy Blue and Yellow goodness, that’s how your bodies were destroyed,” Aiba countered with a sniff, all miserable tone and expression that made Yuuji smile despite the horrible image and then shifting to wrap an arm around Taaka’s shoulder and pressing a loving kiss at the side of Taaka’s temple when he felt Taaka trembled against him.
“That’s okay, Taaka,” he murmured to the other’s hair, embracing him even tighter. “ - I understand, don’t worry about it; I would have done the same if that was me. You don’t have to feel sorry for anything, I love you, I love you so much.”
Taaka simply buried his face further against his neck and hummed. Yuuji smiled and nodded at Jun to continue.
“So yeah, your fathers came to the rescue and stopped Ohchan’s fire into toasting your sorry asses fully just in time; of course, it took both your fathers’ powers to do that, but at least they were able to put you into sleep while they tried healing you both,”
Yuuji blinked. “But?”
Sho stepped in this time. “But their powers aren’t enough to heal you fully, since the both of you had possibly used all your power bring your evil twin brother down, and even then, they were afraid they wouldn’t be able to transport you back to your planet in time to heal you before you both die, so -“
Jun chuckled soundly this time as Aiba started weeping again. “So that’s when Aiba-chan proved himself worthy for once and told your fathers to ask you if you want to stay here on Earth, with us, instead of going back to your planet,”
“But, how? I mean, didn’t you say we were dying, so were technically unconscious then, right?”It still didn’t make sense but Yuuji opted on waiting. He turned to Sho and Sho smiled back, tugging his weeping lover closer to his side.
“Ah, you’re doubting your fathers’ abilities, Nino,” Sho said teasingly, and then, “But honestly, it was amazing, what they did; they just simply held your hand and you glowed, like your soul was awake even when your body wasn’t. They asked you and you answered, Nino; you said you wanted to stay with us, you and Ohchan,”
His eyes began to water and Taaka’s hold against him tightened even more. It’s slowly making sense, at least for the most part, since he was sure he would give the same answer, unconscious or not. He nodded and pointed at himself. “So these bodies --?”
“ -- Are from the dead gay lovers who lived next door and who committed suicide the day you two nearly died,”
Aiba wailed miserably. “Such powerful love, oh my god; it was a good thing I decided to visit Satoshi-kun and Kazu-chan that day to borrow one of Kazu-chan’s Dragon Quest games and then… and then… oh god, you wouldn’t believe what I saw, it’s so tragic and yet so - oh, Sho-chan,” Aiba’s sobbed against his boyfriend’s chest as Sho patted Aiba-chan’s back softly, murmuring loving words through Aiba’s hair.
Yuuji found himself grimacing at the images of his and Taaka’s borrowed bodies, pooling in blood and -
“Oh, don’t mind him,” Jun countered, taking off one of his flip flops and throwing it across, grinning when it hit the back of Aiba’s head. “We couldn’t really be sure if they had actually committed suicide since it was only that moron Aiba-chan who claimed that they did, saying that they were dead, curled around each other when he got there. I’m betting it was because of the food they ate, because when I checked out the place myself, I saw the remains of the chahan Satoshi-kun must have prepared the night before which they probably had for dinner.”
Yuuji felt his brows furrowing. “Chahan?” Sho asked confusedly from the far corner (when were they able to move there?!) where he was protectively cradling his boyfriend, afraid that Jun would get even more violent as the story-telling progressed.
Jun nodded. “Remember the last time you guys threw in a gay party here? No, not the one when Ohchan was kidnapped - the one before that - I was here, remember? I had a little chat with Satoshi-kun then,”
Even Aiba got all curious. “Really? I didn’t know you talked to one of our gay friends, knowing how much you loathed us,” Aiba said, but not without a little hint of accusation that made Jun snort quietly.
“Well, as far as I know, Satoshi-kun wasn’t gay; it just so happened that Kazu was, and he loved him so -“
Sho chuckled. “I don’t really get your logic,”
Jun looked sorely affronted. “The same way I don’t get why you two are together when you both still fuck girls separately whenever you want to!” he countered, annoyed; Yuuji felt like they somehow ended up discussing ancient issues between the three instead of going back to their original topic.
He chuckled under his breath, smiling inanely when he felt Taaka pressed an open-mouthed kiss against his (borrowed body’s) collarbones, and gasping when Taaka repeated the action with an additional swipe of his wicked tongue this time.
“But we’re still attracted to boobs, and pussies taste far different from dicks, so -“
Jun threw his arms in the air in clear despair. “Can we please stop this conversation? I have a headache and I don’t think I can take much more of your -“
Yuuji shook his head and stood up, ignoring the obvious surprised on the other three’s faces as he tugged Taaka by the elbow and started dragging him towards the door.
Sho was the first to recover his bearings. “Where are you going, Nino?”
Yuuji turned and threw them a toothy grin, which creepily looked exactly just how their neighbor Kazu-chan smirked most of the time. “To these bodies apartment,” Yuuji replied, hooking his arm around Taaka’s waist as Taaka hummed his agreement against Yuuji’s neck.
They’ve both been scanning these bodies since Jun started relaying the story about their apparent near-death experience, picking up memories of the two unfortunate lovers who seemed to have died of food poisoning without them even realizing it, based on the memories Yuuji saw on Taaka’s borrowed body. He didn’t think he needed to hear more since he was sure that the rest of the humans were not exactly present when his fathers performed the very tricky and delicate way of transferring his and Taaka’s souls to these human bodies.
“Eh? But - But…”
“No matter how you look at it, we are Satoshi and Kazu now, so -“ he said, pausing to wave his left hand and pulling Taaka a few steps back before the door opened and possibly hit his dazed Taaka on the face. “ - we’re going home; so if you guys aren’t done bickering at each other like old ladies, we’re leaving; just call us when you want to come over, but please do it in about, say, a week?”
Aiba squeaked. “But, we’re not even done telling you about -“
Yuuji waved his hand. “I already know, so thank you; I’m very grateful for what you did, and I’m sure that we still need your help about a lot of things on how to live here on Earth from now on. But for now -“ he paused, letting his hand wormed down from Taaka’s waist to Taaka’s (amazingly built borrowed body’s) behind and squeezing.
Jun looked all kinds of horrified. “Oh my god, please tell me you’re not -“
“What, what?” Aiba was still confused, standing up and following Yuuji and Taaka to the door. Yuuji tried hiding his laughter, beaming at how wonderful it felt to be alive again; humans do have a nice way of showing their love to each other, which he and Taaka learned more about with living with these humans themselves.
He could feel the way this body reacted to Taaka’s, the way the almost erratic beat in his chest told him how well he knew the other man without even thinking about it. Taaka’s been showing him a few images of what these bodies’ previous owners used to do and he couldn’t help but feel slightly embarrassed being there with the other three humans when his body obviously wanted to do something else.
Yuuji snapped his fingers and felt his power traveled from his arms to back of his nape, and feeling the ground beneath his and Taaka’s feet slowly disappeared, but not before he turned back around and bowed gratefully, facing the three.
“Thank you so much,” he whispered under his breath as Taaka did the same, wounding their fingers together. “I’ll see you in a few days, hopefully,”
He was sure Jun just made a disgusted sound from behind them but he couldn’t care less, not when he’s got his arms around his Taaka and Taaka was clinging tightly to him, wet lips against his neck and whispering,
“Guess we can try the doggy style now, huh, Yuuji?”
He giggled.
